The short version
SnipLocal collects no personal data. Everything you save stays in your own browser. Nothing is ever sent to any server operated by Sveltify LLC or any third party.
1. Who we are
SnipLocal is a Chrome browser extension developed and maintained by Sveltify LLC. This Privacy Policy describes how the extension handles your information.
2. Data we do not collect
SnipLocal does not collect, transmit, store on external servers, or share any of the following:
- Your name, email address, or any account information
- The text you highlight or the notes you write
- The URLs or page titles of pages you visit
- Browsing history or activity
- Device identifiers or IP addresses
- Any analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics
3. Where your data is stored
All highlights, tags, notes, and settings are stored exclusively in your browser using Chrome's built-in IndexedDB and chrome.storage.local APIs. This data:
- Never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it
- Is never accessible to Sveltify LLC
- Can be fully deleted by uninstalling the extension or clearing browser data
4. Permissions explained
SnipLocal requests the following Chrome permissions, each used solely to deliver core functionality:
- activeTab — to read the selected text, page title, and URL when you click Snip
- storage — to save your preferences locally in Chrome's storage
- sidePanel — to display your highlights in Chrome's built-in side panel
- contextMenus — to offer a right-click "Snip this" shortcut
- Access to all sites — the content script runs on pages you visit solely to detect text selections; it does not read page content beyond the text you explicitly select
5. Third-party services
SnipLocal does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The extension contains no remote code — all JavaScript is bundled locally at build time.
6. Children's privacy
SnipLocal is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
7. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a future version (for example, when optional sync features are added), the updated policy will be published at this URL and the "Last updated" date will be revised.
